Successful seminar regarding Electrical Condition Monitoring of High Voltage Rotating Machines using On-line Partial Discharge (OLPD) Monitoring

Karsten Moholt AS arrange technical seminars and training courses to help increase the knowledge to our customers. This is a part of our total concept where we believe that sharing knowledge will increase the products lifetime.  This time, we invited Dr Lee Renforth, Managing Director of HVPD Ltd, UK to present a seminar on HVPD’s expertise in the field of on-line partial discharge (OLPD) condition monitoring of high voltage (HV) static and rotating plant.
High Voltage (HV) rotating machines, like all other types of rotating electrical machines, are prone to breakdowns and failures caused by both electrical and mechanical ‘wear and tear’. In-service breakdowns and failures are inevitable; it is just a matter of time!

Many of these breakdowns can be avoided through the implementation of Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) using condition monitoring (CM) technology to support preventative maintenance activity. The detection of incipient failure mechanisms and developing faults before they occur (using condition assessment and trending) can help avoid in-service failures through preventative repair interventions.

Statistics shows that HV stator insulation failure is a significantly contributor to rotating HV machine in-service failures and on-line partial discharge (OLPD) monitoring is known world-wide as the best available method for diagnosing the high voltage insulation in in-service rotating HV machines.

The seminar was held on our new premises at Askøy April 9th

We hope to arrange a similar seminar soon
