This time, we invited Dr Lee Renforth, Managing Director of HVPD Ltd, UK to present a seminar on HVPD’s expertise in the field of on-line partial discharge (OLPD) condition monitoring of high voltage (HV) static and rotating plant.
High Voltage (HV) rotating machines, like all other types of rotating electrical machines, are prone to breakdowns and failures caused by both electrical and mechanical ‘wear and tear’. In-service breakdowns and failures are inevitable; it is just a matter of time!
Many of these breakdowns can be avoided through the implementation of Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) using condition monitoring (CM) technology to support preventative maintenance activity. The detection of incipient failure mechanisms and developing faults before they occur (using condition assessment and trending) can help avoid in-service failures through preventative repair interventions.
